TL;DR

  • Pick a process in your business that you’re already doing
  • Map out this process into its individual steps
  • Figure out what steps would genuinely benefit from AI
  • Automate the rest of the process and introduce AI
  • Test, Test, Test, Play – Mess around and see what works best

Pick a process

When it comes to introducing AI into your business, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed and try adding AI tools before you’ve even figured out if you need those AI tools. Flashy marketing and compelling copy make it seem like this AI tool will revolutionise your business and save you hours, when in reality, it actually just shifts the work you’re doing into prompting this AI and returning less consistent results than if you just did the task manually. This happens because you haven’t chosen and detailed a process to automate with AI. You need;

  • Map out exactly what the process does
  • How the process works step-by-step
  • Where are the biggest time drains in the process
  • What parts of this process can be done automatically without AI

What AI is good at

Ai is very good at a few specific things. Consuming information and responding, reading and matching changing values (for example if you have data come in but it changes every time, AI is good at formatting it), and random generation (say for images or prompted pieces of text). (Add a few more things AI is really good at here). If you can find a prococess in your oganisation that requires these attributes then you’ve found the perfect place to insert AI into your business.
